Writing Success On Your Terms
How decluttering your mind gets you more of what you really want
My dear bright stars,
One of the most adorable sights of September is seeing little ones whose shiny new school backpacks are almost as big as they are. Heading back to school was always so exciting for me as a kid. Yet as adults so many of us feel a collective yikes! as we see the first leaves fall. Work and activities ramp up again, and at the same time we might be looking at our creative goals and deadlines and thinking huh or how?! Or even eff.
But before your heart sinks into your socks, I want to share a process that’s really helped me—even though I am Queen of Impossible To Do Lists and highly prone to overwhelm!
Decluttering my mind of shoulds and other weighty self-imposed obstacles is what enabled me to learn podcasting in spring, start Stardust and Courage in May, and publish nine episodes so far! Plus I’m having fun along the way. I’m following my heart and soul with this, allowing myself to grow and improve, and going at my own pace—all skills I learned from writing. And it feels good and right for me. I’m not looking at what anyone else is doing, or trying to fit someone else’s vision or expectations.
Letting go of what you don’t need to worry about so you can focus on what’s authentically important to you is the secret to defining your own success.
Only when we pursue and practice what we really desire do we feel satisfied. Do you feel proud of what you’re doing, and who you’re being? My dear bright star I want that for you.
Make it easier on yourself by clearing your path. Here are five mind obstacles you can declutter to move forward:
· Comparisons
· Unnecessary expectations
· Unhelpful pressures
· Limiting beliefs
· Negative gatekeeper stories
We get into each one in detail on Episode 9 of the podcast. PLUS enjoy a guided imagination practice that takes you to your gorgeous inner Hall of Celebration. Here’s a preview:
